The Rose & Buds Story
Rose & Buds is a compilation of many learning and teaching styles: the independence and mixed-age environment from Montessori, the focus on play and the child from Reggio Emilia, and the outdoors and minimalistic theories (less technology please!) of Waldorf. There is not one learning style for all children, but rather each child has their own ways of absorbing, seeing, and being.
Rose & Buds is a progressive playschool. Rose & Buds is a nurturing, safe, inclusive and loving space for your child. Rose & Buds is nature focused and health and food conscious. Rose & Buds teaches care for the environment, the world around us, and each other.
Rose’s love of teaching began in 2012 at the Austin Children’s Museum (now the Thinkery), where she developed STEAM curriculum, built robots and performed many science experiments. Rose has in-person and online teaching experiences as a Kindergarten, First Grade and Preschool teacher in NYC public and private schools. Rose graduated from Duke University (BA), Sotheby’s Institute of Art (MA) and has an Med in Early Childhood Education, from CUNY Hunter College.
Violet and Rose met at music class. Violet has more than 15 years of experience working in child care settings in Austin. Her expertise ranges from infancy to school age. During Covid, Violet switched from teaching Kindergarten to nannying and small group play, and has loved getting to know her families. Violet graduated from Texas State University with a BA in Elementary Education, and has an associates degree from Austin Community College in Early Childhood Education. She brings so much love and individualized care to each child, and is excited to join the Rose & Buds team as another flower in the garden of PLAY!
